Hounslow 302762: Our client seeks an information and research officer for an assignment within the management information department of its children's services division.

We are acting for a Middlesex based local authority

The post will be located in Hounslow, TW3 and will be for 36 hpw, Mon-Fri, normal business hours.

This is anticipated to be, initially at least, a 9 month assignment.

Please note that under a special arrangement we have with a leading umbrella company, temps who elect to get paid under this route will receive, in addition to a higher hourly rate of pay, the following benefits which are not available under PAYE:

Essence of role:

1. Undertake statistical analysis and research, being responsible for data collection, the research methodology and accuracy of the statistics.

2. To assist the team in the collection, preparation, analysis and dissemination of data for major information and research projects in order to inform management decisions and service improvements within the Department.

3. Maintain and develop key departmental databases, eg Racist Incidents, EMS PULSE, and work with the team to develop and implement management information systems.

4. Design, structure and present key departmental publications (eg school assessment profiles, school contextual profiles) and statistical reports for senior managers within the Department.

5. Develop and maintain relevant data files held on the departmental shared drive, ensuring accurate and up to date information is available to officers within the department.

6. Support the school improvement process by collating, analysing and presenting assessment and examination data (eg MidYIS, KS1-4, Post -16 etc), working out correlations, relationships, and statistical significances in relation to school effectiveness and pupil attainment.

7. Fully utilise the functionality and resources available on key national assessment and statistical websites (eg Key to Success, DCSF statistics) and disseminate information on pupils, schools and attainment levels to all relevant parties.

8. Monitor school rolls and produce annual school population forecasts by collecting and processing data, ensuring accuracy.


Candidate requirements (*below indicates a requirement that must be CLEARLY EVIDENT FROM YOUR CV, not just your covering letter, to avoid auto-rejection by client):

*UK research and data analysis/management information experience within a local authority or other public sector related context

Any children's services related experience a bonus and could usefully be stated on your CV
