Department Overview

The IT provides all technology platforms and support to the firm, round the clock on a global basis. The stability of the platforms we support is vital to the smooth running of the business. Prevention (testing) and cure (root cause analysis) are fundamental to the continuous improvement of our technology platforms and consequently to the business bottom line. People are expected to own problems, take responsibility for their systems and their actions and to share in the commitment to deliver excellent service to the business

The role of the email archiving program lead is to define, build, test and deploy a global enterprise wide strategic archiving solution for email for BarCap and BarWealth based on agreed policies. This will use Symantec s Enterprise Vault product alongside email, accessible to users via an add-in that sits underneath Outlook. Material from Outlook will be automatically archived to the vault from users\' email accounts and will later drop from user archives based on policies governing age and/or volume. Policies will vary depending on users\' business areas and/or ranks. Symantec s Enterprise Vault is already widely used at BarCap for email journaling.

Main Function

  • Delivering email archiving program against cost, schedule and quality
  • Management of project team members including those with no direct reporting lines into this role and who may have to deliver to other projects outside this one at the same time
Main Duties

This is a hands on role and includes the following:

  • Define, build, test and deploy strategic global archiving solution for email globally, within budget and to agreed delivery dates
  • Create and maintain plan for all stages of the email archiving program, initiating corrective action as required and accommodating changing requirements as necessary. This will sit alongside and be a pre-requisite for plans for migration of BarWealth to oneMail
  • Ensure all key artifacts and documents for archiving are produced, signed off and maintained as required
  • Produce exec pack on regular basis and run weekly exec meetings with relevant contributors/sponsors, reporting on risks, issues, progress, slippages etc, escalating to manager and sponsor(s) as needed
  • Arrange and run all project meetings as required
  • Monitoring/management of financials as required including production and signoff off ITSRs and workpackages
  • Ensure production support requirements are captured and addressed as appropriate, with provision of suitable monitoring and reporting tools
  • Work with support managers to ensure appropriate training for support such that user base can be supported subsequently
Person Requirements

Qualifications/education: Essential

  • A Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Management or related discipline.

Preferred

  • An appropriate combination of education and directly related experience may satisfy this requirement.

Experience required:

  • IT programme management experience in a demanding global environment
  • Experience with IT financials
  • Experience of deployment of a variety of technologies and applications
  • Good time management, prioritizing tasks and ability to meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented
  • Good influencing and negotiation skills

Skills and knowledge: (Specific product knowledge/PC skills/languages etc)

Essential

  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within cost against a recognized project management methodology.
  • Demonstrable blend of theory and practice.
  • Excellent Office skills (Excel, Visio, Project, PowerPoint etc)

Preferred

Detailed knowledge and experience with the following standards/models are desirable:

  • Project Management Institute, PMBOK
  • Prince2 Practitioner
